About the position

GHD is seeking an Air Quality Permitting Director and a Senior Air Quality Consultant to join their Environmental team. The Air Quality Permitting Director will provide strategic direction for environmental compliance in the Gulf Coast market, focusing on sectors such as petrochemicals and manufacturing. The Senior Air Quality Consultant will offer air quality consulting services across various industrial clients in the Northeast and Southeast regions. Both positions involve managing projects, developing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with air quality regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction for growing the environmental compliance area in the Gulf Coast market.
  • Identify and support new business opportunities with current and prospective clients.
  • Develop tactical plans to expand the client base and deliver to a diversified client portfolio.
  • Develop and manage a team of air quality engineers focused on project delivery.
  • Manage multiple air quality projects including permitting, modeling, emissions reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate complex regulatory issues to technical and non-technical clients.
  • Support air quality compliance management in various industries.
  • Supervise and mentor staff in technical and interpersonal matters.
  • Manage and serve as a technical expert on air quality projects for industrial clients.
  • Directly interface with clients to identify new project opportunities and prepare proposals.
  • Oversee project teams to complete air permitting projects.
  • Prepare air permit application documentation and lead compliance assessments.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering, Science or a related field; M.S. preferred.
  • Minimum 15+ years of air quality permitting and compliance experience; consulting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of air quality rules and regulations in Louisiana and surrounding states.
  • Experience with various permitting mechanisms including Title V, NSR, NNSR, PSD, GHG, and Standard Permits.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical specialists, clients, and regulatory officials.
  • Experience leading teams while maintaining budgets and meeting deadlines.
  • Significant experience in Louisiana and Texas is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10-15+ years of air quality permitting, compliance and/or air modeling experience.
  • Direct experience preparing technical documentation for air permit applications.
