About the position
The Per-Diem Physical Therapist position at University Care Center involves evaluating and treating patients in accordance with physician referrals. The role requires developing treatment plans, supervising Physical Therapy Assistants, and participating in patient care conferences. The therapist must maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with state practice acts and payer requirements. This part-time role is essential for providing quality care and facilitating patient independence through effective rehabilitation strategies.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients within 24 hours of physician referral and document any delays.
- Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval from referring physicians.
- Treat patients according to the physician's treatment plan.
- Assist nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in direct patient care activities.
- Communicate with supervisors and health team members regarding patient progress and plans.
- Participate in Patient Care Conferences and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
- Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, and progress notes per state and payer requirements.
- Instruct families and nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training for discharge.
- Facilitate the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment for patients.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy; preference for Master's or Doctorate graduates.
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state with continuing education requirements met.
- Proficient computer skills, including data input into programs like Casamba and Point Click Care.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical procedures and policy manuals.
- Strong communication skills to present information and respond to questions effectively.
