About the position
WBBM-TV is seeking a freelance graphic designer/animator to join its Creative Services Department. The role involves creating impactful news graphics and special graphics packages while adhering to the CBS brand. The designer will conceptualize and execute engaging animations for various media, working closely with the Design Director and other team members.
Responsibilities
- Create daily news graphics and special graphics packages.
- Conceptualize and execute on-air animations for promos, shows, commercials, and digital content.
- Collaborate with the Design Director, writers, producers, editors, and other graphic designers.
- Adhere to CBS brand guidelines in all graphic designs and animations.
Requirements
- Strong design and animation skills with proficiency in After Effects and industry-standard plug-ins.
- Proficient in Adobe CC Suite and Mac OS workflow.
- Excellent typography, design, and color theory practices.
- Highly organized with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work unsupervised under tight deadlines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Sound understanding of post-production processes for broadcast.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor of Arts Degree.
- 3+ years of work experience at a TV station, network, or agency.
- Experience with Cinema 4D and/or VizRT.
- Knowledge of Chicago and its vicinity.
