InterCare is searching for a Full-Time Peer Recovery Coach to join our team at our Bangor location! Responsibilities

  • Engage, inspire, and facilitate meaningful conversations with Patients who are part of the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program.
  • Assist patients with exploring, creating, and meeting their Recovery goals.
  • Provide non-clinical services to aid individuals in establishing and maintaining recovery from addiction.
  • Promote a recovery-based approach to member care, emphasizing respect, self-direction, and empowerment.
  • Provide consultation to SUD team to promote recovery culture as defined by SAMHSA.
  • Draw upon personal recovery experience with addiction challenges to engage with members served.
  • Provide education and expertise from the perspective of a person with lived experience of SUD.
  • Ensure consistent communication to SUD team to evaluate patient status.
  • Assist with substance use disorder treatment and provide supportive services.
  • Facilitate groups as needed.
  • Utilize recovery language and a strength-based approach to assist members served.
  • Help develop and practice skills needed to achieve goals outlined in the treatment plan.
  • Model and teach effective coping techniques and self-advocacy strategies.
  • Participate in verbal de-escalation interventions in emergent situations.
  • Act as a patient advocate and liaison between patient and community service agencies.
  • Complete screening for Alcohol and SUD disorders.
  • Work closely with Medical Assistants, Mental Health and SUD staff, and Medical Providers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must have worked in mental health or substance abuse.
  • Experience in supporting patients with substance use disorder challenges preferred.
  • Must have personal experience with a substance use disorder and have used substance use disorder services.
  • Knowledge and skills sufficient for establishing effective relationships with individuals who have substance use disorders.
  • Completion of the Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CPRC) certification or willing to complete.
  • Experience facilitating recovery groups.
  • Knowledge of recovery support systems, including but not limited to, 12-step support groups.
  • Experience and/or a working knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to present educational information to patients one-on-one or in group settings.
  • Possesses a professional level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, reading, writing, and speaking skills preferred.
