The position involves providing strategic oversight and training of new Peer Recovery Coaches, developing and implementing coaching strategies for team growth, and optimizing peer placement while managing follow-ups at Grady and Emory Midtown hospitals. The role also includes guiding and directing other Peer Recovery Coaches, completing necessary data entry, analysis, and reporting, and responding to individuals in emergency departments or hospital inpatient settings who have experienced overdose or other challenges due to substance use or misuse. The position emphasizes upholding the culture, principles, and values of recovery, providing peer support, and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with hospital staff and community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and training of new Peer Recovery Coaches.
  • Develop and implement coaching strategies for team growth.
  • Optimize peer placement and manage follow-ups at Grady and Emory Midtown hospitals.
  • Guide and direct other Peer Recovery Coaches.
  • Complete all necessary data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Respond to persons in the emergency department or hospital inpatient setting who have experienced overdose or other challenges because of substance use or misuse.
  • Uphold the culture, principles, and values of recovery in all aspects of services provided.
  • Provide connections to local recovery communities and treatment and recovery support services.
  • Provide peer support to persons who have experienced overdose or other challenges with substance use.
  • Facilitate development of relationships with individuals, support/mutual aid groups, and service providers.
  • Follow up when peers agree.
  • Manage boundaries in relationships and adjust according to guidance from team leadership.
  • Provide support to families and allies of people who have experienced overdose or other challenges.
  • Provide information and education about the recovery process to individuals and families.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with community resources and services.
  • Maintain strong collaborative relationships with all hospital staff and partners.
  • Honor professional boundaries and provide education about the recovery process to caregivers, patients, and hospital staff.
  • Travel between Grady and Emory sites to support teams and provide hands-on support.
  • Keep and maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist (CARES) certification or meets CARES eligibility requirements.
  • One year of experience as a Peer Recovery Coach.
