About the position

Emory University and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Behavioral and Mental Health Center is undergoing rapid growth and transformation. We are working to innovate the mental health care system for children in Georgia and are recruiting dedicated and experienced team members who are eager to join this mission. The Emory + Children's Pediatric Institute is seeking a Pediatric Psychologist with experience in treating behavioral health needs in children and adolescents with gastrointestinal conditions. This position will be primarily outpatient and will work closely with medical team members from our Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition to treat patients diagnosed with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions including disorders of gut-brain interaction, inflammatory bowel diseases, celiac disease, and abdominal pain. The ideal psychologist will have experience with multidisciplinary treatment, diagnostic interviewing, behavioral and cognitive-behavioral interventions, and behavioral parent training for medically complex youth. Experience working with patients diagnosed with gastrointestinal conditions is strongly preferred. We are seeking individuals interested in joining a dedicated team of professionals providing the highest quality care to children with pediatric gastrointestinal diseases. This team includes two pediatric psychologists within Gastroenterology in addition to 25+ others across the Children's system who collaborate with an active multidisciplinary team of professionals from Medicine and Nutrition. Psychologists participate in the training of psychology doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows as well other behavioral mental health trainees. Opportunities for clinical research and program development across our clinical care settings are possible. This position is eligible for a faculty appointment through the Emory University School of Medicine, with rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient psychological services to children and adolescents with gastrointestinal conditions.
  • Collaborate with medical team members from the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.
  • Conduct diagnostic interviews and assessments.
  • Implement behavioral and cognitive-behavioral interventions.
  • Provide behavioral parent training for medically complex youth.
  • Participate in the training of psychology doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Engage in clinical research and program development.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA/CPA accredited program.
  • Completion of an APA accredited child internship.
  • Licensed or licensed-eligible in Georgia prior to employment.
  • Board certification within hospital timelines.
