About the position

The Nurse Practitioner - Pediatric - Primary Care is a licensed healthcare provider responsible for delivering direct patient care in a pediatric setting. This role involves assessing patients, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing treatments, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans. The Nurse Practitioner operates under the supervision of a physician and is expected to maintain detailed patient records while providing education and counseling to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive examinations and medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient health needs.
  • Prescribe and recommend medical therapies and treatments in accordance with approved protocols.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans based on assessments and evidence-based medicine.
  • Evaluate patient responses to healthcare provided and the effectiveness of care.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, health management, and nutrition.
  • Maintain appropriate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Initiate timely consultations and referrals when necessary.
  • Perform invasive procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
  • Provide consultation level services for conditions related to the provider's specialty.

Requirements

  • Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege from a state that is part of the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification in area of specialty.
  • Less than 1 year of experience in a relevant field.

  • Flexibility to work 10-hour days if needed.
