The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for promoting health, treating disease and establishing and maintaining individual treatment plans for pediatric patients of the practice. This position reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer with possible clinical supervision from a physician of Carolina Family Health Centers, Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of the Center's health care plan, based on need, resources, epidemiology and health behaviors of the targeted population.
  • Report to the Chief Medical Officer any problems in the day-to-day clinical operations or the practice that could adversely affect the quality of patient care.
  • Work with the healthcare team to promote good public relations and cultivate cooperative relationships within the healthcare community.
  • Follow established drug formulary in prescribing and adjusting medications according to therapeutic goals.
  • Maintain a system of comprehensive, accurate and timely problem-oriented medical records.
  • Obtain complete medical history, pertinent family and social history on all new patients.
  • Perform problem-specific examinations for pediatric patients.
  • Perform complete physical examinations, as needed for pediatric patients.
  • Provide information and documentation sufficient to maximize reimbursement and minimize the risk of adverse audit outcomes.
  • Prescribe and adjust patient medications according to therapeutic goals and CFHC formulary.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program with credentialing through the American Nurses Association.
  • Approval from the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Demonstrated competence to perform the duties of an advanced practice healthcare provider.
  • An active North Carolina License along with a DEA registration.
