About the position

The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is currently seeking a board certified or board eligible Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician to fill a fixed term, Clinical Assistant Professor position starting in December 2024. We are fortunate to be located in an excellent academic medical center on a vibrant college campus in a wonderful area of the country. The Triangle area of North Carolina is known for Carolina Blue skies, temperate weather, some of the best food in the country and a dynamic arts and sports scene. Both the mountains and the beach are easily accessible by car. The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is a growing and integral part of the Department of Pediatrics. Our Department and Division take pride in offering multiple opportunities for faculty development and in fostering strong mentoring relationships throughout the University and Medical Center. All division faculty members are expected to perform scholarly work to enhance the academic mission of the division.

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care in the 12-bed Pediatric Emergency Department (PED) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
  • Occasionally provide care in the Children's Urgent Care in Raleigh.
  • Teach and supervise residents and learners from various healthcare professions at both locations.
  • Perform scholarly work to enhance the academic mission of the division.

Requirements

  • MD/DO degree.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quality and process improvement.
  • Experience in clinical guideline development.
