About The Position

This position is for Quantum Mechanics I, a lecture-based course offered in Fall 2026. The course will cover topics including Schroedinger equation, interpretation of the wave function, expectation value, Ehrenfest's theorem, wave packets, stationary states and energy quantization, potential wells and potential barriers, scattering and tunneling, the harmonic oscillator, Schroedinger equation in three dimensions, the hydrogen atom, and the WKB approximation. The course is scheduled to run from September 1 to December 30, 2026, with lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:00 to 17:20, totaling 3 hours per week and 36 hours in total. The mode of delivery is in-person, with an anticipated class size of 20 students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Quantum Mechanics I course.
  • Cover topics including Schroedinger equation, interpretation of the wave function, expectation value, Ehrenfest's theorem, wave packets, stationary states and energy quantization, potential wells and potential barriers, scattering and tunneling, the harmonic oscillator, Schroedinger equation in three dimensions, the hydrogen atom, and the WKB approximation.
  • Deliver lectures in-person.
  • Manage a class size of 20 students.
  • Potentially perform marking and grading, and coordination of large classes or multi-section courses as per collective agreement articles.
