City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to prepare and processes payroll on a biweekly/monthly/annual basis, including preparing and submitting all applicable State and Federal payroll-related reports. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalency.
  • One (1) year of experience in computerized payroll and financial accounting systems.
  • One (1) year experience in data entry, bookkeeping and personal computers.
  • Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Dependability.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in related field
  • Two (2) years' experience in computerized payroll and financial accounting systems.
  • Two (2) years' experience in data entry, bookkeeping and personal computers.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll on a biweekly/monthly/annual basis.
  • Prepare and submit all applicable State and Federal payroll-related reports.
  • Process payroll checks and reports.
  • Add applicable wage garnishment.
  • Verify W-4s and HR benefits open enrollment data on an annual basis.
  • Assist with preparation of the year-end payroll forms and reports.
  • Assist with responding to customer inquiries regarding account status and payments.
  • Provide assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
