About the position

Ensures that multiple and special payroll processes comply with all federal, state and local mandated payroll regulations. Collects and analyzes payroll data. Ensures timely processing of bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls. Participates in year-end processing including the production of federal forms W-2 and 1042-S. Oversees and performs administrative task related to state Retirement plans. Participates in time reporting system i.e. Kronos maintenance including upgrades and implementations. Initiates banking request (ACH payments, ACH rejects, positive pay check decisions, Stop Payments). Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Collect and analyze payroll data.
  • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls in a timely manner.
  • Participate in year-end processing including production of W-2 and 1042-S forms.
  • Oversee and perform administrative tasks related to state Retirement plans.
  • Participate in maintenance and upgrades of time reporting systems like Kronos.
  • Initiate banking requests including ACH payments and stop payments.
  • Perform other functionally related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or four years of equivalent experience in payroll, accounting, or related field.
  • Five years of payroll experience managing, utilizing, updating, and testing automated payroll and/or HR information systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five years of experience processing payroll at a university or large organization.
  • Experience utilizing PeopleSoft HR/Payroll software.
