About the position

The Payroll Administration Clerk position at the State of Illinois involves performing various administrative tasks related to payroll processing and office support within the Department of Healthcare and Family Services. The role requires typing confidential correspondence, managing incoming mail, and maintaining payroll records, while also providing customer service to visitors and callers. This position is essential for ensuring efficient operations within the Bureau of Fiscal Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Type a variety of confidential, complex, specialized correspondence and payroll bulletins.
  • Receive, open, sort, review, and distribute all incoming mail to unit staff.
  • Greet visitors and answer and screen incoming calls before forwarding to professional staff.
  • Develop and update the logging system for the receipt of hard copy and microfiche reports.
  • Establish, examine, and update multiple filing systems for maintaining agency employee payroll records.
  • Independently monitor inventory and requisitions for office supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of office experience.
  • Ability to keyboard accurately at 45 words per minute.
