About the position
The Payroll Accountant will manage the execution of in-house, multi-state manual payroll for over 100 employees, ensuring timely and accurate processing. This role involves handling payroll tax returns and compliance with state and federal laws, offering a contract-to-permanent opportunity with flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Perform payroll duties, managing timely and accurate processing of the company's payroll.
- Handle multi-state payroll for over 100 employees, including both hourly-wage and salaried personnel.
- Prepare and upload payroll tax returns.
- Manage multi-state SUTA and FUTA compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Work closely with the HR department to implement payroll procedures.
- Troubleshoot any payroll discrepancies.
- Review and improve payroll policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is a plus; experience required.
- Previous experience in Payroll, Accounting, or related field.
- Strong understanding and experience with payroll tax laws, FUTA, and SUTA.
- Proficient with payroll software.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
