About the position

The Contracting Risk Analyst - Value Based Care at UChicago Medicine plays a crucial role in analyzing and modeling Value Based Care (VBC) and population health risk agreements. This position supports the Office of Managed Care and the Clinically Integrated Network by evaluating VBC risk contracts, incentive programs, and financial performance. The analyst collaborates with various teams to ensure successful contract negotiations and implementation, while also serving as a subject matter expert in risk-based contract terms.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and model Value Based Care (VBC) and population health risk agreements.
  • Evaluate VBC risk contracts, incentive programs, and distribution.
  • Calculate and model projected financial risk performance.
  • Support future financial goals and strategies related to VBC entities.
  • Assist in risk-based contract negotiations and implementation.
  • Monitor and enforce contract terms for value-based care initiatives.
  • Develop monitoring tools and reporting to manage and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support VBC programs.
  • Create financial models and forecasts for VBC contracts.
  • Analyze complex datasets to assess changes in total cost of care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare, or related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in a multi-facility health system.
  • Detailed knowledge of VBC risk reimbursement methodologies.
  • Excellent understanding of risk-based contracts.
  • Advanced technical skill in healthcare EDW data systems and query languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Medicare Advantage, Bundled Payments, and ACOs.
  • Experience in supporting risk-based contract negotiations.
  • Knowledge of VBC provider incentive distribution management programs.
  • Payer experience preferred.
  • Experience with CMS CMMI governmental programs.
