About the position

The Patient Services Representative (PSR) at LifeLong Medical Care plays a crucial role in supporting community healthcare by serving as the front-line phone staff in the Patient Services Call Center. This position involves answering incoming calls, registering patients, scheduling appointments, and triaging calls to various departments. The PSR is responsible for maintaining patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and ensuring excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries from patients and caregivers.
  • Register patients and schedule appointments using NextGen Electronic Practice Management (EMP) and Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Triage calls based on established procedures, including urgent medical calls.
  • Maintain courteous and cooperative relations with the public, patients, and staff.
  • Verify current demographics and insurance information with every patient.
  • Enroll patients in the LifeLong Patient Portal and update information as necessary.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new Patient Services Representatives.
  • Maintain established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for call volume, duration, and quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of multi-line telephone experience or one year as a medical receptionist with scheduling experience.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with standard office software (MS Office).
  • Typing speed of at least 30 WPM.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in private practice or a Community Health Center.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
