About the position

The Patient Information Navigator at Main Line Health is responsible for providing technical coordination and support for patients and healthcare providers requiring access to protected health information. This role involves educating users on the Main Line Health System Patient Website and Portal, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws regarding Release of Information (ROI), and delivering respectful and considerate care tailored to individual patient needs. The position emphasizes customer service and maintaining a positive image of the Health Information Management Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical coordination and support for patients and healthcare providers regarding access to protected health information.
  • Educate users on the Main Line Health System Patient Website and Portal.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulatory guidelines for Release of Information (ROI).
  • Deliver respectful and considerate care focused on individual health information needs.
  • Engage in direct customer service and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.

Requirements

  • Two years of work experience in Health Information Management (HIM) strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Release of Information (ROI) strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with EPIC or other electronic health record management software preferred.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, keyboarding skills, interfaces, SQL, and HL7.
  • Aptitude for data flow concepts to effectively problem-solve technical issues.
  • Strong abstract problem-solving and critical thinking skills, along with exceptional organization and prioritization skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
  • Other credentials related to Privacy, Security, and Release of Information from AHIMA strongly preferred.
