Patient Financial Specialist - Home Health - Full Time (40 hour/week)

About the position

The position is responsible for analyzing Home Health & Hospice medical records to ensure that supporting billing documentation is in place, certification periods are met, and clinical documentation adheres to industry guidelines and Medicare requirements. The role involves reviewing documentation and applying appropriate codes for billing, obtaining insurance verification and prior authorizations, and monitoring daily billing errors and accounts receivable. Additionally, the position participates in the creation and implementation of standard work for daily, weekly, and monthly document verification and chart audits. The role also includes providing patient scheduling for field clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Analyze Home Health & Hospice medical records for billing documentation compliance.
• Ensure certification periods are met and clinical documentation follows industry guidelines and Medicare requirements.
• Review documentation and apply appropriate codes for billing.
• Obtain insurance verification and prior authorizations.
• Monitor and work on daily billing errors and accounts receivable.
• Participate in the creation and implementation of standard work for document verification and chart audits.
• Provide patient scheduling for field clinicians.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of patient account billing experience.

Nice-to-haves

• AA or Bachelor's Degree
• Previous experience in medical billing with commercial insurance and Medicare/Medicaid
• Previous experience in a medical records environment
• Previous medical office experience with exposure to medical records, scheduling, high volume phone systems, and medical transcription
• Experience in home health and hospice coding and billing
• Certified Coder
• Bilingual; English/Spanish
