About the position
The Patient Financial Services Representative (PFSR) is the first point of contact for patients and guarantors in various healthcare settings. This role is crucial in gathering and verifying demographic, financial, and insurance eligibility information to ensure a smooth patient experience. The PFSR is responsible for explaining policies, collecting payments, and providing exceptional customer service while navigating the complexities of patient financial interactions.
Responsibilities
- Verifies insurance benefits and confirms coverage is active.
- Determines correct insurance filing order for multiple coverages.
- Confirms physician and prescription orders for accuracy.
- Explains policies and secures required signatures on consent forms.
- Schedules walk-in appointments for services offered.
- Performs patient discharge functions, including reviewing after visit summaries and scheduling future appointments.
- Collects patient out-of-pocket responsibilities per collection guidelines.
- Provides patient estimates as requested.
- Prepares and balances daily deposits of payment collections.
- Interviews patients and guarantors to obtain necessary information and identification.
- Provides exceptional customer service and addresses patient questions and concerns.
- Guides patients to appropriate destinations for services.
- Obtains pre-certification and authorization.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Excellent communication skills

Nice-to-haves
- One (1) year of related hospital, medical office, or customer service experience preferred.
