About the position
As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Fresenius Medical Care, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with kidney disease and their families. This position involves providing safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse, building strong relationships with patients, and contributing to a collaborative healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Set up, test, and operate hemodialysis machines for patient treatments.
- Obtain and document necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient.
- Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment and perform vascular access cannulation.
- Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and evaluate intradialytic problems.
- Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor.
- Enter all treatment data into the designated clinical application accurately and timely.
- Collect, label, prepare, and store lab samples according to required specifications.
- Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surfaces and surrounding areas between treatments.
- Assist other healthcare members in providing patient education.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Dependable, compassionate, caring, supportive, collaborative, and reliable traits.
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility (preferred but not required).
- Successful completion of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis training program and CPR certification.
