About the position
The position involves supporting FMCNA's mission by providing safe and effective dialysis therapy to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role includes operating hemodialysis machines, maintaining a clean working environment, and participating in quality enhancement programs to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing patient-specific education regarding dialysis adequacy measures.
- Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their well-being since their last treatment.
- Evaluate vascular access for patency and report findings to the nurse supervisor.
- Obtain pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight, reporting any unusual findings.
- Perform vascular access cannulation and report difficulties to the nurse supervisor.
- Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders and monitor patients' responses.
- Document all relevant functions necessary for the discontinuation of treatment.
- Ensure safety alarms on dialysis machines are enabled and functioning properly.
- Maintain environmental integrity and cleanliness in the treatment area.
- Complete and document participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D. and must meet certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline.
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
- Successful completion of the FMCNA dialysis training program and CPR certification.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with hemodialysis or related patient care roles.
- Certification in phlebotomy or related medical fields.
