Responsibilities

• Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing specific patient care tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Assists with admissions, transfers, discharges, and transport of patients.
• Obtains and records vital signs and other health metrics, reporting abnormalities to the primary nurse promptly.
• Demonstrates competence in advanced skills such as oral suctioning, clean dressings, and tube feeding set-up.
• Communicates effectively with healthcare team members and documents patient information legibly.
• Provides personalized care to patients and families, identifying and documenting special needs.
• Utilizes educational materials and attends mandatory in-services for career development.
• Assists in code situations under the direction of the Code Blue Team.
• Adheres to infection control practices and safety policies.
• Maintains cleanliness and appearance of unit areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS provider certification course required within 90 days from date of hire.
• Minimum of three months experience as a PCT or currently in a junior semester of an Associates or Bachelor's nursing program.
• General knowledge of high school subject matter including sciences and medical terminology.
