The Patient Care Technician in the Emergency Room at Union Hospital plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves collaborating with nursing staff to assess patient needs, assisting in care plan development, and providing education and advocacy for patients. The Emergency Department serves as a critical access point for various emergency services, including stroke and trauma care, making this role essential in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with RN staff to assess patients' needs and report concerns.
- Assist in developing and modifying care plans, prioritize patient problems, and perform medical tasks.
- Provide patient education, follow policies, respond to emergencies, and act as a patient advocate while respecting rights and confidentiality.
- Evaluate interventions, maintain professionalism, and seek assistance when needed.
Requirements
- Basic medical knowledge and patient care procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Valid Indiana CNA license or agreement to complete the Union Health PCT Training program upon hire.
- Must be certified in healthcare provider BLS upon hire.
