About The Position
A Patient Care Tech assists with nursing care, performs job functions according to specific age and/or developmental needs, and works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Charge Nurse of the unit.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Certification as Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred.
- Equivalent experience as a nursing assistant or a current nursing student that has completed the Fundamentals of Nursing is acceptable in lieu of certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required (can obtain after hired).
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
Responsibilities
- Assists with nursing care.
- Performs job functions according to specific age and/or developmental needs.
- Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Charge Nurse of the unit.
- Demonstrates knowledge in patient care i.e.: bathing patients, assisting patients with ambulation and/or transfers, vital signs, and other patient care.
- Demonstrates positive customer service relations.
- Routinely participates in Quality Improvement projects and encourages the department to continuously improve.
- Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
- Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
- Expected to serve as sitters as needed, following the successful completion of designated sitter education and training provided.
