About the position
The Patient Care Tech Trainee position in the Pulmonary Unit is designed for individuals seeking to learn and assist with patient care under the supervision of registered or licensed practical nurses. The role involves attending training sessions to develop skills necessary for providing care based on individual patient needs, including performing basic medical procedures such as drawing blood and conducting EKGs.
Responsibilities
- Attend assigned patient care training sessions and shifts.
- Assist with patient care based on individual patient needs under supervision.
- Learn to draw blood samples from patients through various methods.
- Prepare patients for phlebotomies and distribute specimens to laboratory units.
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and other patient care tasks within the scope of practice.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency is required.
- Current BLS training is required.
- Completion of nursing fundamentals or one-year experience as a nursing assistant, or completion of Nursing Assistant program, or current KY State CNA certification is preferred.
