About the position

The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for providing exceptional service to patients by managing the check-in and checkout processes, ensuring a welcoming environment, and handling various administrative tasks related to patient care and insurance verification.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and ensure all check-in and checkout processes are completed.
• Acknowledge and greet patients, customers, and vendors in a friendly manner.
• Answer and respond to telephone inquiries professionally and timely.
• Schedule appointments and gather patient and insurance information.
• Verify and enter patient demographics into EMR, ensuring all fields are complete.
• Verify vision and medical insurance information and enter it into EMR.
• Maintain a clear understanding of insurance plans and communicate this information to patients.
• Pull schedules to ensure insurance eligibility prior to patient appointments and ensure files are complete.
• Prepare insurance claims and run reports to ensure all charges are billed and filed.
• Print and prepare forms for patient visits.
• Collect and document all charges, co-pays, and payments into EMR.
• Allocate balances to insurance as needed.
• Maintain a clean workspace and practice economy in the use of time, equipment, and supplies.
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to maintain patient and practice confidentiality.
