The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) works under the direction of licensed personnel to assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and eating. The PCA also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. The PACU unit consists of 111 bays caring for post-op patients recovering from anesthesia before moving to an inpatient unit.
