About the position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting nursing staff by performing delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care. This position emphasizes a relationship-based care model, ensuring individualized attention to patients while working under the supervision of registered nurses. The PCA is expected to adapt to various shifts and contribute to a collaborative healthcare environment focused on patient needs and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care.
  • Carry out designated skills within the functions of a certified nursing assistant as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan.
  • Communicate data reflective of the patient's status and delegated tasks to nursing staff.
  • Work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant training program required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification through Arizona Board of Nursing is required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.
  • Previous PCA experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills preferred.

  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
