About the position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting nursing staff by performing delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care. Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care.
  • Carry out designated skills within the functions of a certified nursing assistant as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles through the life span and interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs.
  • Communicate data reflective of the patient's status and delegated tasks/functions.
  • Work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Graduation from a vocational program for nursing assistants preferred.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills preferred.
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant training program required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification through Arizona Board of Nursing is required upon hire.
  • Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) preferred, required within 12 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Additional certifications in patient care or related fields.
