About the position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in the Float Pool at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting nursing staff by performing delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care. This position is vital for ensuring high-quality patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment, particularly during night shifts. The PCA will work under the supervision of registered nurses and must demonstrate adaptability to various patient care situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care.
  • Carry out designated skills within the functions of a certified nursing assistant as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  • Communicate data reflective of the patient's status and delegated tasks to nursing staff.
  • Work flexible hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant training program.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification through Arizona Board of Nursing required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.
  • 1 year of inpatient experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduation from a vocational program for nursing assistants preferred.
  • Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) preferred, required within 12 months of hire.
