The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in the Float Pool at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting nursing staff by performing delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care. The PCA will work under the supervision of registered nurses and must demonstrate adaptability to various patient care situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care.
• Carry out designated skills within the functions of a certified nursing assistant as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
• Communicate data reflective of the patient's status and delegated tasks to nursing staff.
• Work flexible hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant training program.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification through Arizona Board of Nursing required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date.
• 1 year of inpatient experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Graduation from a vocational program for nursing assistants preferred.
• Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) preferred, required within 12 months of hire.
