The Patient Access Specialist II at Fairview Health Services plays a crucial role in the financial clearance process within Patient Access, serving as the first point of contact for patients and families. This position is essential for ensuring that patients understand their financial responsibilities and the services provided by Fairview. The specialist will handle pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, and patient interviews to gather necessary insurance information and verify eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the financial clearance process within Patient Access.
  • Create a positive first impression of Fairview's services to patients and families.
  • Articulate information clearly to patients, guarantors, and family members regarding their financial responsibilities.
  • Conduct pre-registration and registration of patients.
  • Verify insurance information and eligibility through interviews with patients and guarantors.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, and insurance payors.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of customer service experience in a healthcare or related setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year of admitting experience and/or health insurance experience.
  • Experience with automated patient account systems.
  • Basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
