About The Position

This is a Full Time Float Position. The Patient Access Representative will greet patients in person and on the phone in a friendly and courteous manner, obtain and verify patient information, and answer and direct incoming calls. They will accurately admit/register patients for all services performed at MRH, collect co-pays at the time of service as needed, and process all returned mail. This role acts as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and the care team, and participates in interdepartmental process improvements and evaluation efforts. The representative will also act as an internal consultant and educator to hospital staff in their area of expertise, striving to ensure continual compliance with Patient Access Department policies and procedures. They must be able to identify and access the system to report abuse to employees and/or patients, and establish a good rapport and working relationship with other departments. Responsibilities include coordinating insurance, preauthorization, benefits verification, and pre-registration activities, prioritizing workload, and completing assignments within allotted time while working as a team with co-workers. The role also involves assisting in the orientation of new employees, being proficient in duties in both the outpatient and Emergency Departments, and cross-training in other departments as needed. Additionally, the representative will educate patients for financial assistance, complete miscellaneous reports, and perform other duties as assigned. Employees are expected to report to work punctually, complete assigned duties within established timeframes, and actively contribute to departmental and organization-wide performance improvement initiatives. Compliance with all regulatory requirements and adherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies are mandatory. Following all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment is also required.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Computer experience.
  • Customer service experience.
