About the position
RiverView Health, is a community owned, membership based non-profit organization that was formed in 1898 and continues to be the sole community hospital in Crookston, MN. RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area. Responsibilities
- Answers phones and schedules patients.
- Greets and registers patients while collecting and accurately entering all information required for visit.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with patients and families, physicians, nurses and insurance companies.
- Performs insurance verification either real time or manual verification for eligibility.
- Performs point of service, collection of co-pays and other patient liability.
- Obtains signatures for all necessary documents.
- Safeguards and reconciles all monies collected daily in compliance to cash handling policies and procedures.
- This position will be cross trained to the Emergency Department for Patient Access responsibilities in that area when needed.
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in health care setting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- 1+ years of experience in a Patient Access setting
- 1+ years of experience with an Electronic Medical Record such as Epic
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance
