About the position

The Patient Access Representative plays a vital role in the healthcare environment by ensuring smooth operations and delivering quality patient care. This position involves greeting patients, managing appointments, maintaining accurate records, and providing essential administrative support, including handling insurance-related processes.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients and other visitors in the medical office.
  • Answering patient questions and providing assistance and directions when necessary.
  • Fielding all phone calls that arrive using the general office number.
  • Utilizing medical office software to schedule new and follow-up appointments for patients.
  • Registering new patients and updating necessary records.
  • Distributing forms and paperwork to patients to ensure that required fields are completed appropriately.
  • Daily collection of patient financial responsibility.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all patient records.
  • Completing and tracking insurance verifications, authorizations, and referrals.
  • Knowledge of Workers' Compensation and Auto claim submissions.
  • Performing other diverse duties as requested or required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a medical assistant certificate program preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience working as a medical receptionist/administrative assistant in the health care field.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Availability to travel throughout JAG locations for coverage.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a medical assistant certificate program preferred.
