About The Position

The Patient Access / Registration role is a full-time, day shift position focused on the pre-registration process of patient admissions. This involves obtaining accurate demographic, insurance, and patient liability information, as well as collecting copayments. The role requires explaining insurance and private pay liabilities, referring patients for financial counseling when necessary, and accurately entering/updating patient information. The position also includes processing payments and completing reconciliation reports. Training and orientation are provided for the first 2-3 weeks, Monday-Friday, 8 AM-4:30 PM, which may include time in Springfield, MA. A third week of training is required for new hires with less than one year of hospital registration experience.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurances

Nice To Haves

  • Patient access hospital experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the pre-registration process of patient admissions
  • Obtain approvals and payments on site
  • Explain insurance and private pay liabilities; appropriately refer patients requiring financial counseling
  • Accurately enter/update all patient demographic information, including insurance and patient liability; post payments to appropriate screen and complete reconciliation reports
