About the position

The position involves performing functions of moderate to difficult complexity with high visibility and high risk from a compliance and regulatory standpoint. The individual will assist management with training, orienting, and monitoring the day-to-day performance of team members to ensure departmental policies and processes are being followed. Responsibilities include daily cash handling procedures, assisting with the development of team member schedules, and registering patients. The role is recognized as a Subject Matter Expert for the department.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate patient identification and registration to ensure proper clinical treatment and timely claims payment, including collecting demographic and financial information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Act as a preceptor to ensure team members are equipped to complete efficient registration processes, including collecting patient balances and discussing estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with required documents and forms, including obtaining necessary signatures, subject to review by regulatory bodies.
  • Maximize collections and minimize bad debt by providing estimated costs for patient responsibility at the time of service and monitoring daily collections.
  • Collaborate with Patient Access Leadership to coordinate team member schedules and ensure adequate coverage while minimizing overtime.
  • Maintain knowledge of third-party payment requirements and provide timely education to team members regarding changes in payor requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned.
  • 4 years of experience in Hospital Admissions, Billing, and/or Credit/Collections.

Nice-to-haves

  • An associate degree plus two (2) years of experience OR four (4) years in a service-related position such as customer service in a business/office setting, banking, or finance with a minimum of two (2) years in a lead capacity.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in hospital admissions, billing, or credit/collections.
