About the position

The Patient Access Data Integrity Specialist III - Pediatric Registration is responsible for performing timely and accurate patient throughput functions. This includes financial screening, verifying eligibility, benefits, and medical necessity, obtaining prior authorization, calculating and collecting co-pays, registering and scheduling patients, and ensuring data requirements for patient demographics and insurance coverage are met. The role is crucial for maintaining the Master Patient Index and ensuring financial success for the University of Mississippi Medical Center through diligent work and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Perform core revenue cycle patient throughput functions such as data entry, registration, scheduling, prior authorization, benefits screening, real-time eligibility verification, and collections from patients.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Comply with policies, processes, and department guidelines for assigned revenue cycle duties.
  • Assign accurate medical record numbers and complete medical necessity/compliance checks.
  • Provide proper patient instructions and collect and enter insurance information.
  • Collect payments from patients and maintain the integrity of patient demographics in the system.
  • Work with assigned reports, work-lists, and patient accounts.
  • Collaborate with management and co-workers in a positive manner.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Perform any other assigned duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Four (4) or more years of relevant experience in Admissions, Patient Registration, Scheduling, Insurance Verification, Pre-Registration, Collections, Prior Authorizations, Payor Authorizations, and/or Call Center.
  • Proven track record of accomplishing high-quality work in a professional manner.
  • Alternatively, three (3) years of relevant experience and certification as a Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) through NAHAM.
