Perform under the direction and supervision of the Pathologists; all duties related to the preparation, dissection and gross description of surgical specimens of all complexity, while adhering to all established protocols and procedures. Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Pathologist Assistant
  • Understanding of fixation and tissue structure preservation
  • Understanding of specimen sampling and impact on subsequent specimen processing
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology with emphasis on the pathological presentation of disease
  • Strong observational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • Commitment to a healthy and safe workplace
  • Computer literacy in windows based applications
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an expected requirement of this position.

Nice To Haves

  • CoPath and Dragon voice dictation experience an asset
  • Current CCCPA Certification is preferred
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Science or Medical Laboratory Technologist with advanced level courses in anatomy and physiology
  • Graduate of Pathologist Assistant training program preferred
