About the position

Creates, prepares, produces, bakes breads, rolls, breakfast pastries and desserts according to standard recipes, in order to contribute the overall guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, prepares, produces, and bakes all breakfast pastries, breads, rolls and desserts for restaurants and banquets.
  • Decorates pastries/cakes with creativity and skill.
  • Maintains adequate supply of all prepared products on hand and ensures the proper storage and refrigeration of same.
  • Ensures spoilage/waste is kept to a minimum by ordering and utilizing proper quantities and rotating products.
  • Develop new products for a la carte and catering menus on a rotating basis.
  • Lines up baked products in mobile carts according to the needs of the particular outlet/function.
  • Set daily pars on all products to ensure freshness.
  • Assists in the professional development of apprentices and bakers.

Requirements

  • Skilled in creating, preparing/producing and decorating pastries and cakes.
  • Knife handling, pastry & baked goods knowledge.
  • Good working knowledge of the fundamentals of the broiler, sauté, fry, roast, moist heat and other cooking methods.
  • Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.
  • Knowledge of operating all kitchen equipment, i.e., stoves, ovens, broilers, steamers, kettles, etc.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts and portion sizes.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to complete requisitions read recipes and communicates with other associates.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 100 lbs. on continuous schedule.
  • Ability to stand and to work continuously in confined spaces.
  • Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Advance degree or specialized training highly desirable.
  • At least three years pastry/baking experience.
  • Bakery certificate or apprenticeship helpful.

Benefits

  • $500 Sign-on Bonus. You will receive $250 upon a successful 90 day completion and $250 upon 180 day completion of employment.
