About the position

The Parts Counterperson is responsible for selling parts to customers over-the-counter and providing necessary parts to the service department and body shop. This role includes placing special orders and assisting customers in selecting and purchasing parts. The Parts Counterperson must read appropriate manuals to ascertain the type and specification of parts, provide pricing and product information, dispense parts to the service department and body shop, and order out-of-stock parts requested by customers. Additionally, the Parts Counterperson assists in taking inventory, meets departmental production and profitability goals, maintains customer satisfaction index (CSI) at or above dealership standards, answers telephone calls promptly, maintains an organized and safe work area, participates in required training, records all hours worked accurately, follows safeguards rules and regulations, demonstrates the company's core values, complies with company policies and procedures, and observes all safety rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in required training.
  • Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system.
  • Follows safeguards rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrates the Company's Core Values.
  • Complies with Company policies and procedures.
  • Observes all Federal, State, Local and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Working knowledge of automotive parts.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products.
  • Intermediate ability and knowledge of the Parts portion of the Dealership Management System and other computer applications to support operations.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Up to 3 years of work experience in automotive parts.
