About the position

The Part-Time Weekend Overnight Youth Care Worker at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls is responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety of youth during overnight hours. This role acts as an advocate, educator, and role model, supporting the program's policies and philosophy while engaging with youth in a therapeutic environment. The position requires staying awake and alert during shifts, conducting regular checks on youth, and maintaining communication with supervisors and families.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety of youth during overnight hours.
• Conduct bedroom checks every 30 minutes, or more frequently as needed.
• Log all bed checks and youth activities accurately and timely.
• Engage with youth in daily routines and activities.
• Build therapeutic relationships with youth and provide supportive supervision.
• Provide transportation for youth and their families as necessary.
• Employ de-escalation and behavior management techniques as outlined in CPI protocol.
• Participate in supervision meetings and maintain communication with supervisors.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with youth.
• Valid Illinois driver's license with a clear driving record.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow instructions.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn other software.
