About the position

The Part-Time Universal Banker at Stoneham Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while handling various financial transactions and inquiries. This role requires a friendly demeanor and the ability to float between branches, ensuring members receive assistance with their banking needs. The position emphasizes maintaining a strong community connection and offers opportunities for career advancement within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome members to the credit union and provide routine information concerning services in accordance with credit union policies.
  • Receive and process members' current financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and money orders.
  • Assist with mail or email transactions when available.
  • Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
  • Answer member inquiries in person or on the telephone and/or direct members to the appropriate department.
  • Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all credit union products and services handled or promoted by tellers.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all related policies and procedures, rules, and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.
  • Cross-sell credit union services such as safe deposit boxes, traveler's checks, debit cards, credit cards, online banking, or other promotional products where available.
  • Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare the totaled amount to the computer-generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies, reporting any issues to the supervisor as necessary.
  • May help other tellers research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Work Saturday rotation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of similar or related experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel).
  • Dependable and able to juggle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Reliable transportation and availability to travel to any branch for coverage.
  • Detail-oriented and able to function in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Credit Union experience (2 years preferred).
