The Part Time Teacher Assistant position at West Freehold Elementary School involves supporting students with disabilities under the supervision of a certified professional. Responsibilities

  • Performs responsibilities under the supervision of a certified/licensed professional in accordance with laws and local district policies.
  • Provides supplementary support to students with disabilities by prompting, cueing, and redirecting participation.
  • Assists the teacher in organizing and managing instructional materials suitable for students' needs.
  • Addresses specific needs of students, including mobility, personal care, and the use of adaptive equipment.
  • Works with students individually or in groups to reinforce skills as selected by the teacher.
  • Uses strategies to facilitate the integration of students with exceptional learning needs and fosters their independence.
  • Maintains a safe learning environment and supervises students during various activities.
  • May serve as a substitute teacher when required and certified.
  • Creates a climate of mutual respect and maintains confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Follows behavior plans and individualized treatment plans as prescribed.
  • Accepts constructive feedback and modifies behavior accordingly.
  • Implements appropriate teaching strategies and behavior modification approaches.
  • Assists with problem-solving to improve classroom efficiency and morale.
  • Commits to ongoing training and professional development.
  • Collects accurate data daily and demonstrates proficiency with electronic devices for data collection.
  • Physically intervenes when necessary using district safety protocols.

Requirements

  • 30 college credits from an accredited institution required.
  • Experience supporting students with academic, social, and emotional needs preferred.
  • Experience working in a self-contained special education program preferred.
