About the position

As an ALDI Cashier or Stocker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the customer shopping experience in a collaborative team environment. This part-time position offers an opportunity to engage with customers and contribute to the overall efficiency of the store. You will be responsible for operating registers or other machinery, stocking shelves, and ensuring that the store maintains a clean and inviting atmosphere. Each day will present new challenges and opportunities to learn, making this role dynamic and rewarding. In your role as a Cashier, you will process customer purchases, maintain cleanliness in your area, and ensure that merchandise displays are stocked neatly. Exceptional customer service is a key component of this position, as you will assist customers with their shopping needs and provide feedback to management regarding products, inventory losses, and any scanning errors. You will also participate in inventory counts and adhere to cash policies to minimize losses. As a Stocker, your responsibilities will include stocking shelves and rotating products to guarantee freshness for customers. You will follow merchandising planograms to create visually appealing displays and organize new inventory while ensuring that empty boxes are removed and broken down. Operating machinery safely and following all safety procedures will also be part of your duties. This position requires physical stamina, as you will be regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk about the store.

Responsibilities

  • Processes customer purchases and performs general cleaning duties.
  • Stocks shelves and merchandise displays neatly.
  • Provides exceptional customer service, assisting customers with their shopping experience.
  • Provides feedback to management on all products, inventory losses, scanning errors, and general issues.
  • Participates in taking store inventory counts according to guidelines and monitoring inventory for accuracy.
  • Adheres to cash policies and procedures to minimize losses.
  • Stocks shelves and rotates product properly to guarantee fresh product is available for the customer.
  • Follows merchandising planograms to create excellently merchandised displays.
  • Organizes new inventory, removes and breaks down empty boxes.
  • Operates machinery and follows all safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to perform general cleaning duties to company standards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Knowledge of products and services of the company.
  • Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately (for Cashier role).
  • Comply with state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages (for Cashier role).
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and properly, including electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, and cardboard baler (for Stocker role).

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
