About the position

The Teacher understands the central concepts, methods of inquiry, and structures of disciplines and creates learning experiences that make the content meaningful to all students. This position is for a Part-Time Special Education Teacher for Instructional Content for Grades 9-12 for the 2025/2026 School Year, with a .6 FTE. The role involves planning, preparing, and delivering instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences, engaging students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction, and providing a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
  • Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Engage students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Uses a wide range of instructional strategies and technologies to meet and enhance the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Considers equitable resources and equitable instructional practices.
  • Update and maintain all necessary records accurately and completely.
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
  • Demonstrates effective behavior management techniques.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with building expectations.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
  • Create formative assessments aligned to district curriculum.
  • Analyze student data from both formative and summative assessments.

Requirements

  • Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements and certifications.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all school stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop relationships with students and parents.
  • Knowledge of various instructional strategies and techniques.

  • Ability to organize and maintain student records.
