About the position

The Part Time Peer Recovery Coach position at the Community Mental Health Authority focuses on providing enhanced support for individuals with substance use disorders. This role involves mentoring, advocacy, and motivation to help clients access necessary services, prevent relapse, and promote long-term recovery. The Recovery Coach will collaborate with various health department programs and represent the Integrated Treatment and Recovery Services (ITRS) in meetings, ensuring adherence to the organization's mission and policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for persons with substance use disorders under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor.
• Engage in supportive services to assist with access and transition between service levels and community supports.
• Serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator for individuals seeking recovery support.
• Help clients access services and supports to prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery.
• Collaborate with the Ingham County Health Department Non-Fatal Overdose Response Team and other ICHD programming.
• Represent ITRS programming in various meeting formats.

Requirements

• Possession of high school diploma or G.E.D is required.
• Must have two continuous years in recovery from addiction(s) with experience navigating treatment services and/or prevention.
• Two years of experience interacting with persons with substance use disorder required.
• Must possess the MDHHS Peer Recovery Coach certification and the MCBAP Certified Peer Recovery Mentor certification or become certified within one year from date of hire.
• Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both orally and in writing is required.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and access to reliable transportation for job-related use is required.
