About the position

The Part Time Library Technical Assistant is responsible for providing support at the library's public service desks, utilizing professional judgment to assist students, faculty, and staff with their inquiries. This role requires a combination of technical skills and knowledge of library resources to effectively guide users in finding and utilizing various materials and services.

Responsibilities

  • Staff the three public service desks at the library.
  • Evaluate requests and determine the best resources to assist students, faculty, and staff.
  • Maintain library stacks, including re-shelving and initiating shifting projects.
  • Participate in and coordinate projects related to functional area responsibilities.
  • Monitor and recommend the purchase of supplies for assigned areas.
  • Assist with the upkeep of library equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • One year of work experience in a library or bookstore; or completion of college-level coursework and two years of work experience in a library or bookstore.
  • Knowledge of basic library policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
