About the position

The Department of Medicine in the Bone Marrow Transplantation and Hematological Malignancies Program at the University of Colorado is looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to join a research lab focused on the study of hematopoietic stem cell biology. Principal responsibilities of the position will be to perform key laboratory support and management tasks, manage experimental animal colonies and support the scientific program of the lab by assisting with and/or independently conducting experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigators (PI) and other laboratory staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide laboratory science expertise and leadership in study design, study oversight, data management, data analysis and manuscript preparation to assist all levels of investigators, researchers, and clinicians on new research activities across a wide range of disciplines.
  • Serve as a resource to Principal Investigators (PIs) and other stakeholders, demonstrating deep domain knowledge and the ability to guide scientific inquiry and operational decisions.
  • Assist with developing or develop protocol-specific systems and documents, including process flows, training manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); maintain subject-level documentation and prepare documents, equipment, and/or supplies.
  • Review and implement lab support policies, practices, and programs to meet organizational, operational, and management needs, contributing to continuous quality and compliance efforts.
  • Assist with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and share results with leadership, driving improvements based on data and frontline insights.
  • Teach students and other staff as needed, review relevant scientific literature, and attend and present at lab meetings-highlighting mentorship and knowledge dissemination.
  • Provide oversight on reagent purchases through budget management and project-specific tracking, aligning spending with complex, multi-project research needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • Two (2) years professional level research experience for Senior Level.
  • Three (3) years professional level research experience for Principal Level.
  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.
