About the position

The Part-Time Instructor for Ophthalmic at the College of Southern Nevada is responsible for teaching courses related to ophthalmic studies, ensuring that students meet the specific objectives of the course. The instructor will provide course outlines, evaluate student progress, and administer examinations. This role requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work with multiple students in a lab setting.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting all classes at the designated time and place.
  • Teaching assigned courses in accordance with catalog descriptions and course outlines.
  • Providing students with a course outline that includes goals, objectives, content, required textbooks, attendance requirements, and evaluation methods.
  • Periodically examining and informing students of their progress toward course objectives.
  • Preparing and administering examinations to measure student attainment of course objectives.
  • Assigning grades to students.

Requirements

  • Nevada licensed Optician with a minimum of 4 years' experience.
  • Ability to achieve ABO advanced certification within 2 years.
  • Flexibility to work both days and nights.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in education from an accredited College/University.
  • ABO advanced or NCLE Advanced licensure.
  • Bilingual.

Benefits

  • Salary of $925.00 per instructional unit and $46.25 hourly for labs.
