The position is for a Part-Time CRNA, requiring 24 hours per week, providing anesthesia services to patients under the general supervision of the Medical Director. Responsibilities include reviewing patients' medical history, administering anesthetics, monitoring patients during procedures, and providing post-anesthesia care.

Responsibilities

  • Review patients' medical history and assist in selection of type of anesthesia.
  • Administer anesthetic and monitor patient during procedure.
  • Provide immediate post-anesthesia care.
  • Supply documentation of continued registration as a CRNA.
  • Obtain health and medical history, perform physical examination, and construct problem lists.
  • Perform preoperative evaluations, including phone screening.
  • Collect, record, and interpret patient data.
  • Order appropriate laboratory, radiologic, and other diagnostic studies.
  • Interpret studies performed/ordered.
  • Initiate consultation and referrals as needed.
  • Assess patients to determine need for physician attention.
  • Deliver direct patient care before, during, and after procedures requiring anesthesia.
  • Make professional decisions for anesthesia care based upon a comprehensive health assessment.
  • Maintain professional standards of health care before, during, and after an anesthetic.
  • Prepare and evaluate the safety of anesthetic equipment, supplies, and drugs.
  • Insert invasive monitoring lines required for patient care during anesthesia and interpret the data.
  • Provide administration of general anesthesia, neuraxial anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and monitored anesthesia care.
  • Assess, interpret, and treat physiologic responses to anesthesia.
  • Provide postoperative analgesia for pain management.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia and related procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
  • Completion of a post graduate certificate or a master's degree in anesthesia.
  • Successful completion of a national qualifying examination in the specialty of anesthesia.
  • Maintain license to practice anesthesia and re-certify biannually by attending 40 hours of continuing education programs.
